Passive House Institute (PHI)
The Passive House Institute (PHI) is an independent research institute founded 1996 by Dr Wolfgang Feist with a continuously growing interdisciplinary team of employees. PHI has played an especially crucial role in the development of thePassive House concept. The first pilot project (Darmstadt, Germany, 1990) was Europe’s first inhabited multi-family house to achieve a documented heating energy consumption of below 10 kWh/(m²a), a consumption level confirmed through years of detailed monitoring.
Since then, the Passive House Institute has assumed a leading position with regard to research on and development of construction concepts, building components, planning tools and quality assurance for especially energy efficient buildings. PHI has been responsible for the building physics related consultancy and technical guidance on a number of firsts including the first Passive House office building, the first Passive House factory, the first Passive House schools and gymnasiums, the first Passive House indoor pool halls and the first Passive House retrofits. The Institute is currently providing such expertise for numerous new, innovative projects.
Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE)
Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) was formed in 2008 as a not-for-profit society. AEEE has continuously strived to foster a culture of energy efficiency in India through supporting policy implementation, business enablement, and knowledge products. In the recent years, AEEE has joined forces with major foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and peer organizations that have helped AEEE establish itself as a credible and effective platform in the field of energy efficiency in India.
Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) supports policy implementation and enables the energy efficiency market with a not-for-profit motive. AEEE promotes energy efficiency as a resource and collaborates with industry and government to transform the market for energy-efficient products and services, thereby contributing toward meeting India’s goals on energy security, clean energy, and climate change. AEEE collaborates with diverse stakeholders such as policymakers, government officials, business and industry, consumers, researchers, and civil society organisations.
Pledge4Earth (P4E)
Pledge4earth was established in the year 2022, to support Industry and building sectors for holistic transition and transformation to achieve net zero, altogether with other SDGs goals. P4E will inculcate this habit of innovation and transformation by leveraging in solution-oriented thought processes, creating pools of talents, able leaderships and a vibrant ecosystem of industry associations and knowledge platforms focused on innovation to net zero.
P4E aspires to be a prominent organisation to bring the change in the human mindset towards climate protection and pledges to become an independent thought-provoking & solution-oriented organisation with capabilities in research, policy, advisory and micro-level implementation.
P4E is working with Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Niti Ayog, MoHUA in their several prestigious policy projects in Buildings and Industry sector as well as collaborates with CSOs, Think Tanks and Researchers in implementation.
Passiv’Optim
Passiv’Optim was established in France in 2021, to provide training and consultancy services on Passive House buildings. Passiv’Optim is working with the Passive House Institute, as well as several training organisations in Europe and in the UK, including La Maison du Passif, the Institut des Sciences Appliquées of Strasbourg, Castaño y Asociados, Energieagence and Coaction Training to spread knowledge and share experiences on high performance buildings.
School of Planning and Architecture
Recognizing the specialized nature of the fields in which the School had attained eminence, in 1979, the Government of India, through the then Ministry of Education and Culture, conferred on the School of Planning and Architecture the status of “Deemed to be a University”. With this new status, the School had broadened its horizon by introducing new academic and extension programmes and promoting research and consultancy activities. It was recognized as “An Institute of National Importance under an Act of Parliament” in 2015.
